How to find art for your heart

Would you like to feel that dizzy euphoria of falling in love for the first time, all over again? The simple act of viewing art can do this! This is due to the ability for art to increase your levels of dopamine and activity in the brain’s frontal cortex.

So, if you’re like me and feel the need for a bit of an energy boost, why not choose some art for your heart…

Here are 3 hot tips to choose the best art for you and your home

1.      Choose the ‘right’ art for YOU, then choose where you put it carefully!

Choose art that YOU love, that sings to you, that elicits all the juicy happiness inside.  This could be a painting in weird, fancy colours that doesn’t match anything.  It can be purchased art, framed children’s art, sculptures, rugs, tapestries or extra ‘wellbeing’ points for showcasing something you have created.  It all helps tell a story about you, your home and your values. You should however, choose carefully where this art is displayed. Find a space that is the right size space for your art, in a room that connects to the story of your art, or near other furniture that enhances your art.

2.      Get to know the artist

If you see something online, visit their space, email, message or call them.   This will help you understand a piece more and love it even more if you feel a connection with the artist.  This goes a long way if you consider commissioning a piece.  A commissioned piece can feel special and helps link a style you like, with a more personal choice relating to that art.

3. Explore art and galleries to learn what you like

If you’re not sure what style you like, you can visit art galleries, browse online, or visit local art fairs to see what style takes your fancy.
